Theragenics Corporation operates two business segments: its brachytherapy seed business and its surgical products business.  The brachytherapy business manufactures and markets its premiere product, TheraSeed®,  a palladium-103 based  device, I-Seed, an iodine-125 based device, and related products and services.  Physicians implant these “seeds” during a one-time, minimally invasive procedure, usually performed on an outpatient basis, primarily to treat patients with localized prostate cancer.  Its surgical products business manufactures and distributes wound closure and Vascular and Interventional products.  Wound closure products include sutures, needles and other surgical products with applications in, among other areas, urology, veterinary, cardiology, orthopedics, plastic surgery and dental. Vascular and Interventional  products include Introducers, Valved Sheaths, and Guidewires used in the interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, interventional nephrology, and vascular surgery markets.
